Anglican Church: Sapele Diocese Reopens Main Auditorium Two Years After Battle With Bishop

Members of St. Luke Anglican Church, Sapele Delta State, Headquarters of Sapele Diocese, has reclaimed their main auditorium for regular worship, after they worshiped under the canopy along Boyo Road, Sapele, in the past two years, in protest of their spiritual leader, Rt. Rev. (Dr.) B. A. Erifeta (JP), whom they asked to go over several allegations leveled against him.

The entire members of the Diocese gathered to pray and fast for three days, saying that they got a divine revelation from God that it was time for them to “regain their possession and move into the main church building” which they abandoned two years ago in protest of their Bishop whom they alleged had committed some unpardonable sins.

The members who commenced prayer and fasting on Monday, January 22, 2018, prayed for God’s intervention as they danced round the main auditorium seven times while anointing same with oil before they filed into the church, jubilating and singing praises to God, saying that they have finally got the victory after the battle with their embattled Bishop, whom they still strongly maintained must never come back to the diocese.

Members of the Cathedral, St. Luke Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion had worshiped outside the main auditorium, along Boyo Road, Sapele in protest of their Bishop whom they asked to go on the ground of what they alleged as high handedness, embezzlement, insubordination to elders, raining curses on members at the slightest provocation, e.t.c.

Some of the members who spoke to journalists disclosed that they have been waiting in vain to hear from their Primate on the findings of the Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma’s report, the leader of the committee set up to ascertain the true position of the matter, adding that to their surprise, many months after, their Primate is yet to make public the findings.

At the time of filing this report, OM was yet to get a response from the said bishop.
