Okowa To Newspaper/Magazine Publishers: Share Ideas To Strengthen Your Papers
Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on publishers of newspapers and magazines in the state to share ideas among themselves, saying that this will help to strengthen the papers they publish.
Governor Okowa who spoke in Asaba during a courtesy visit to him by print media publishers, under the aegis of Association of Community Newspapers Publishers of Nigeria, ACNPN, added that: “As community newspapers, there is a greater strength when you are able to come together and associate with each other.”
He continued: “Beyond the fact that within the various localities the news is made available to you, when you share ideas and information, it also helps to strengthen your papers and you are also able to get news from your colleagues who are in other parts of the state.”
The governor, who lauded the move by publishers of community newspapers and magazines to have an umbrella body to champion their cause, urged them to ensure that people in the rural community are aware of happenings in other localities.
Dr. Okowa assured the body that his administration will work with ACNPN to enable Deltans at the grassroots get acquainted with the programmes of his administration.
Earlier, Comrade Jude Obiemenyego, Chairman, ACNPN, during his address, commended Senator Okowa for his developmental strides, assuring that ACNPN will continually partner with his government
