COE Agbor: Provost Admonishes Students On Skills Acquisition
Students of Delta State have been called upon to acquire one or two skills while in school in order to make themselvesself-reliant in view of the high level of unemployment in the country.
The Provost, Delta State College of Education, Agbor, Dr Joseph Ukadike, made the call during the 38th matriculation ceremony of the students of the College held at the college’s old site auditorium.
Dr Ukadike, who said that the institution attached much importance to entrepreneurship and vocational training, enjoined the students to take their training very seriously while in school in addition to their normal course of study and ensure that they excel in order to be able to overcome the unemployment challenge in the country.
He further enjoined the students to invest their spare time in extra curricular activities like social clubs, churche, while advising them to spend their time very wisely.
The Provost of the College of Education sternly warned the students on the consequences of engaging in acts of lawlessness and social vices such as cultism, examination malpractice, fighting, and indecent dressing which might lead to expulsion from the programme or rustication from the institution.
He urged the students to see themselves as very lucky to have gained admission into the institution out of the large number of applicants, even as he reminded them of the oath they took during the matriculation to be of good behaviour.
A total number of 363 students matriculated with Education Faculty having 32 students, Faculty of Sciences 58 students, Vocational and Technical Education 84 students, Arts and Social Sciences 146 students and Faculty of Language with 43 students.
