Gov Okowa Appoints Delta State PCRC Chairman As SSA On Women Development
The Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has appointed Chief (Mrs.) Odet Emo JP, Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Delta State, as a Senior Special Assistant on Women Development in his cabinet.
The appointment which takes immediate effect, has received accolades from Deltans who consider it as a well deserved appointment, while a few have said this is a big loss to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, as Chief Emo is known to be a staunch supporter of Great Ovedje Ogboru, a frontline governorship aspirant in the opposition party in the state.
Speaking to Oasis Magazine during a phone conversation, she described the appointment as an opportunity to contribute her quota to the betterment of women in the state.
She said: “It came as a big surprise to me. It is a well deserved appointment. That the Governor took notice of what I have been doing in the state is exciting.”
She added: “My vision now is to come up with strategies that would mobilise the women and make them self-employed. Remember, I am a caterer and into many businesses. I would use my experience to help many women in the state become self-reliant.
“The women need to know how to manage their little resources.”
