DELSU: Owners Of Vehicles With Tinted Glasses Denied Entry Into Site 111, Shut Down Campus
Owners of vehicles with tinted glasses, were today denied entry into Site III of Delta State University, Abraka, when they, in a convoy with flashy cars attempted to gain entrance into the said campus to felicitate with friends that were writing their final examinations and about to graduate.
The aggrieved car owners, numbering over five, packed in front of Site III and prevented car owners and pedestrians from entering and exiting the campus.
According to sources from the university, the management recently directed security operatives to prevent cars with complete tinted glasses owned and driven by students and youths from entering any of the campuses in Abraka.
An internal memorandum from the Registrar’s Office, dated: 22nd May, 2018 however exempted cars with completely tinted glasses driven by government officials and staff of the institution.
This policy, we gathered was a security strategy to prevent any breakdown of law and order in the campuses, after several shootings were carried out recently by graduating students in Site II and III, while some graduating students on other occasions created a scene on campus, as they sprayed money and popped champagne in public glare.
Also, this decision to screen vehicles entering the campus, may be connected with a recent shooting in Asaba campus of the institution that left one dead and another injured. The injured student has been hospitalized and undergoing treatment.
This incidence we gathered was an offshoot of a cult war of rival cult groups in Asaba campus.
At the time of filing this report, security operatives in the campuses in Abraka were doing all they could to prevent a ripple effect of this cult war in any of the Abraka campuses.
