Eghoro Community PRO Cries Out Over Threat To Life

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), Eghoro Community in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, Barr. Bawo Wesley Edema, has cried out over threats to his life by one Monday Omagbemi a.k.a. Awanibo.
Speaking to Oasis Magazine during an exclusive chat, Edema said that yesterday, he honoured an invitation by Chief Ayiri Emami for a meeting with some notable indigenes of the community to deliberate on issues concerning the community’s stake in NPDC Elcrest oil exploration.
According to him, “Suddenly, Omagbemi who was also at the meeting abused him verbally, which later resulted in some hot exchange of words between the two of them.”
He said: “Omagbemi for whatsoever reasons then used one of the drinking glasses on the table to hit my head. This left me with a deep cut and some particles of the glass on my left eye.
“He also threatened to call some of his boys to eliminate me, saying that I had 30 minutes to leave Warri or be dead. He claimed to belong to a dangerous cult group in Nigeria.
“Last year I wrote a petition against Roland Tonwe, an elder brother to Monday, the assailant. I believe this inhumane treatment from Monday is connected to that petition.
“I felt since there were some respected community leaders at the meeting that I was safe. This was a mistake on my part and maybe I would have avoided been wounded by him.”
While calling on all security agencies to come to his aid, he said: “My life is presently on the line since he (Omagbemi) has threatened to search for me till he eliminates me.
He added: “If Omagbemi could boldly carry out this attack in the presence of two prominent chiefs from the palace, then there is nothing that Omagbemi will not be able to do.
“The matter has been reported at a police station in Warri and NBA, Sapele branch will take it up from there.”
Present at the said meeting were Chief Ayiri Emami, Chief Johnson Amatserunleghe, Duris Orugbo, Kenneth Atsedagho and Mr. Austin Ayiuronoritsede.
