–Blasts DTSG Over Silence
By Daniel Dafe
Members of Ukuanovwe family are set to bury Late Kennedy Ukuanovwe, who was murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen along the Old Benin Express Way, Urhuoka, Abraka recently.
The burial arrangement states that the service of song will hold on the 26th of April at his private residence along Urhuoka, Abraka Expressway, Urhuoka, Abraka, Delta State.
The funeral mass is scheduled to hold the following day at Christ Embassy Church, Urhuoka and thereafter the internment at his private residence.
Meanwhile, a nephew to the deceased, Godstime Ukuanovwe, the pioneer President of Language Advocate of Nigerian Students (LANS), and a one time Director of Socials and Cultural Affairs, Student Union Government (SUG), Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has expressed dismay at the government’s silence after the murder of his uncle.
His words: “One week after my uncle was murdered, we are yet to receive a word or seen any action from the Delta State Government led by Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. The Ukuanovwes are in a serious mourning mood and we believe that the people of Abraka have been abandoned.”
He lamented the continuous killings by Fulani herdsmen within Abraka axis, adding that the local, state and federal governments should rise up to the challenges to curb insecurity within the state and Abraka in particular.
He said: “This is not the first time an incidence of such is happening in Abraka. It has occurred before, again and again and it is reoccurring. This shows that the issue has not been attended to at any given time because if the crime has been nipped in the bud, the marauding Fulani herders would have known that the Abraka axis and Delta State is a no go area.
“I am crying out loud this time because the murdered man is my paternal uncle. He is the immediate younger brother to my father. Let me just clear it here and now that I have always condemned the Fulani herdsmen menace since inception.
“I also wish to use this medium to call on the state government to look into the gruesome murder of Mr. Kennedy Ukuanovwe holistically. He has an aged mother and nine children whom are all kids.
