Abraka: We Demand Roads, Not More Political Appointees – Ogune Appeals To Oborevwori

Convener of Abraka Need Roads Campaign and a media professional, Mr. Matthew Ogune has appealed to the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori to prioritize infrastructural development in Oruarivie Abraka community over appointment of more Special Advisers into his cabinet.

Reacting to the recent announcement of new political appointments, specifically the appointment of Special Advisers, while critical infrastructure such as roads continue to deteriorate, Ogune insisted that the construction and rehabilitation of roads many of which are in dangerous and impassable conditions should take precedence over expanding political patronage.

The media professional who is representing a broad coalition of residents, community leaders, and youth advocates in Oruarivie Abraka community called on the government to redirect its focus and resources toward urgent developmental needs.

According to him, many of the affected roads have remained in disrepair for years, leading to increased transport costs, road accidents, and overall hardship for residents and businesses alike.

“While the appointments of SA’s into government are welcome development, I wish to state categorically that we are tired of empty titles and political favoritism. What we need are safe, motorable roads that support economic growth, education, and access to healthcare.

“Our demand is simple: we need roads, not more Special Advisers.”

Ogune urged the government to demonstrate true leadership by prioritizing people-centered governance and channeling public funds into projects that have tangible impacts on the lives of ordinary people.
