UPU Youthwing President Visits Ewu Kingdom, Presents Food Items To Women
–Umukoro Is A Force To Reckon With, Says Regent

The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youthwing, Worldwide, Comrade Efemena Umukoro, today, April 17, 2020, continued his tour of Urhobo communities in Delta State to present food items to women in order to cushion the effect of the lockdown in the state ordered by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to tackle the spread of the Coronavirus disease.
The Urhobo youth leader who visited Ewu kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area, was received by youths in the area led by Comrade Daniel Taiga, President, Niger Delta Youth Council and thereafter visited the palace where he met with the Regent of the kingdom, HRM Umukoro Onesa Emmanuel, community leaders and some women leaders in the kingdom.
In his brief address, Umukoro commended the monarch for the audience despite the short notice, saying that he and other executive members of the youth body are determined to change the narrative and move Urhobo Nation forward.
He added: “I decided to embark on this mission at a crucial time like this when the state is on a lockdown and I am aware that many families in Urhobo land eke out a living on a daily basis.
“Please accept my little contribution and join me in prayers that I get more resources so that I can do more for our people.”
While receiving the items of some bags of garri and yam, the leader of the old women group (Egweya) in the kingdom, Dorcas Orode, Otota of Egweya, thanked the President, saying that this is the first time that they are seeing the President of the youthwing in UPU.
She prayed for God’s blessings on him and advised him not to listen to detractors but continue in his good works and remain focused.
“You have done well and I urge other Urhobo youths to follow in your footsteps to lessen the burden on us in these difficult times,” she said.
Speaking to journalists after the presentation, HRM Emmanuel described Umukoro as a force to reckon with in Urhobo Nation.
Hs words: “We thank God for the lives of the youths who have come to give assistance to our mothers. My prayer is that God opens way for the president so that his ambition can be completed. He is a man to be reckoned with. He knows the pain of the people and if he is empowered he will remember his people.”
He called on Urhobo indigenes to imitate him and support him.
On his part, the Secretary of the youth body, Barrister Harry Ehaoma, who also is an indigene of Ewu, commended the president for the gesture.
According to him, Comrade Umukoro is the best President UPU youthwing has ever had.
He noted: “There is a deviation from previous administration. Now, we see him going to all Urhobo Kingdoms to identify with the people.”
Continuing, he said: “I recommend him for further appointments. The government of Delta State needs to support him to enable him consolidate on what he has been doing so that with him Urhobo Nation can move forward.”
