School Resumption: Delta Students To Ground Asaba Airport, As NAPS Move To Shut All International Airports

Nigerian students under the aegis of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) have concluded plans to ground all international airports in Nigeria, following the federal government’s insistence on non-resumption of higher institutions for them to return to school and complete their programmes.

In a statement signed by Dio Oghale Emeka Rex, Senate President of NAPS and Comrade Inedi Bright, Clerk of the Senate, the students are aggrieved that the federal government has refused to open the institutions for them, despite all other sectors of the economy have been opened for business transaction across the nation.

The statement said the protest is aimed at grounding all international airports in the country, noting that the federal government has not given any positive response to them, hence they are set to barricade all international airports in the country.

The statement said if the government fails to heed the call of the students between the time of this publication and Saturday August 29, the students are expected to converge at the front of the airport from 7am on Saturday and that they are to arrive the airport with pots, cooking gas and sleeping mats as the period of their stay is not known.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government today announced that the resumption of international flights has been shifted to September 5, 2020.
