Uvwie Monarch Inaugurates Committee On Review Of Ekpan Constitution

The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Sideso (JP) OON, Abe 1, OON, has constituted a 16-man constitution review committee for Ekpan Community in Uvwie Local Government Area.
Members of the committee who were inaugurated at the palace of the Ovie in Effurun, recently, include Professor Joseph Abugu (Chairman); Chief Livingstone Appah (Alternate Chairman); Sir Monday Ataine (Secretary) and Chief Omafume Amurun (Assistant Secretary).
Others are Chief Kenneth Okwowe, Hon Henry Biyibi, Chief Edmund Ofudje, Hon Kingsley Urumedji, Joe Imiruaye, William Akpiomah, Awinoje Kokoma Grace, Deacon Matthew Emewakeme, Comrade Esere Akemu, Pastor Innocent Adjenughure and Mrs Duchess Sakutu.
The etche r’ Oriokpor (traditional administrative unit) was yet to present her representative in the committee as at the time of the inauguration.

Speaking shortly before the inauguration, the traditional ruler emphasized that the committee was constituted to review and not to draft a new constitution and that the purpose was to reflect the composition of the four traditional administrative units that were calved out of the defunct Ekpan Traditional Administrative Unit.
While he charged members of the committee to be fair, firm and transparent in the discharge of their duties, he explained that the committee was comprised of representatives of stakeholders, just as he instructed the committee to complete its assignment within three months.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the Chairman, Professor Abugu on behalf of other members, thanked the Ovie for giving them the opportunity to serve, promising not to disappoint in the assignment.
