ABRAKA: Motorists, Others Lament Bad State Of Agbor-Sapele Road

Earlier today, motorists held in a gridlock in the Abraka axis along Agbor-Sapele express road, wailed over the deplorable state of the road.

The said road which is currently in a very critical shape, has made residents of Abraka that ply the road to groan, as they also believe that the road has been abandoned, urging the government to come to their aid.

Oasis Magazines (OM) spoke to one of the tanker drivers (under conditions of anonymity), who while he tried to scale through the bad spots had his truck broke down.

His words: “The road has been bad for many years. We have been managing this bad road and the government has not done anything about it. Now my tanker has been trapped on this road.”

He added: “Other drivers now pass through Ozoro Road to get to their destination.”

At the time of filing this report, the driver was yet to fix the truck.

According to a cyclist who also did not want his name mentioned, the road was filled with sand during the lockdown.

Continuing, he said that due to the weather condition, the road got worse daily, which left it twice as bad as it was initially.

This has made motorists movement in Abraka limited and stressful, and consequently resulted in the hike of transportation fare since longer routes are now put to use.

Some residents have called for government’s intervention to avoid other roads in the community from wearing out due to overuse.
