#EndSARS: Markets, Shops, Others Closed In Warri, As Curfew Begins In Delta

Following the endSARS protests that took a different dimension yesterday Thursday were many places such as prisons were under attack which necessitated the Delta State Goverments to impose a 48-hour curfew in the state, markets, shops, schools and other business premises have remained closed.

A visit to many places which were hitherto busy with business activities were empty. For instance, the porpular plaza owned by the Former Minister of State for Education, Barr. Kenneth Gbagi was empty as mobile police men stationed in the place are the ones visible.

As at yesterday evening, many people were seen involved in panic buying of foodstuffs in eventually all the markets to stockpile at home while the curfew lasted just as the prizes of food stuffs skyrocketed as soon as the news of the curfew fiiltered into the air.

As the curfew takes its toll, today Friday, heavily armed army officers have mounted the various juctions in Warri, Effurun and its environs to forestall the break down of law and order.

Speaking to Oasis Magazine (OM), the Etsu Nupe of Warri and environs, Alhaji Zuberu Tajudeen said the curfew impossed is a welcome development as many hoodlums have highjacked the entire process to engage in armed robberry and other heinous crimes.in the state.

While Alhaji Tajudeen said the protest is a welcome develpment, he however said, the protesters would have stopped further protests since the federal government has agreed to address, if not all but most of the issues that neccesitated their protests.

He said as it stands, the protest and its attendant deaths and injuries sustained that followed, it is our people that are still suffering it, adding that everybody is affected in one way or the other.”

“We are the same people being affected by the protests, is there any need to further protrst?” he queried.

On the suffering many traders pass through due to the curfew, he said nobody is to blame as everybody is suffering the curfew saying “we all should bear it because it is not one and half days that shops were closed because of the curfew that they would make the millions they have not made for the past years”.

His Royal Highness Tajudeen appealed to the protesters to calm down and wait for the federal to actualise its plan for Nigerians just as he charged the federal government to speed up plans to address the issues raised in their protests in order for peace to reign in the country to enhance Nigeria’s growth and development.

The very busy Warri/Sapele Road in Warri South Local Government Area, now empty.
