Idjerhe: King-Elect Holds First Meeting With Council Of Chiefs, Cautions Omasoro1

The King-elect of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM Udurhie 1, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey on Thursday October 1st, 2020 held his first meeting with Council of Chiefs from Idjerhe kingdom.

The meeting which was held at the Ovie’s palace in Jesse town, the traditional administrative headquarters of Idjerhe Kingdom had over fifty chiefs from the kingdom.

Presiding over the meeting, HRM, Udurhie 1, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, thanked the Idjerhe Council of Chiefs for their unalloyed support and total commitment and efforts in ensuring that things are done in the right manner to ensure that Idjerhe kingdom is taken to a greater height.

The monarch while briefing journalists on the recent development in his kingdom, said that his administration will not be distracted by an individual or group of individuals whatsoever, adding that, he will focus on issues that will bring development to the kingdom and ensure that jobs are created for all sons and daughters of Idjerhe kingdom.

HRM, Udurhie 1, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, admonished all his subjects to respect constituted authorities, and desist from activities that are inimical to the peace and development of the kingdom.

He further added that there is need for everyone to be prudent in their speech especially when addressing Idjerhe sons and daughters who are representatives of the kingdom, both politically, traditional and socially.

He expressed total dissatisfaction at the manner in which one Mr. Omasoro Angus who has been stripped of all his title abuses political office holders in the kingdom.

The Monarch advised Omasoro and his cohorts to turn a new leaf and make good use of their lives even as he reiterated that the kingdom will not again tolerate any act of indiscipline, disobedience and other acts capable of breaching the peace in the kingdom.

On the kingship pattern of Idjerhe Kingdom, the monarch told newsmen that it is not hereditary but rotational for the sake of equity and peace.

He said that the first King of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM, J.A Atenaga ruled from 1964-1988, after his demise, HRM, Edward Igho Tadaferua took over and now, HRM, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey has taken over as the new king of the kingdom from different ruling houses.

Chief William Atiti, the most senior Unugbrogodo of Idjerhe Kingdom has debunked media publication by Mr. Angus Omasoro saying he does not have the right to crown a king.

Atiti said that the due process in the selection of Idjerhe King was followed to the latter and the most competent aspirant has emerged in the person of HRM, Udurhie 1, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey.

He reiterated that the kingdom has since dropped Omasoro and his cohorts and they remain suspended until they apologize and repent for their misconduct, as he urged all Idjerhe sons and daughters to have no dealings with them, until they have done restitution.

Adding that the Commissioner of Police through the Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Area, Hon. Solomon Golley has been informed of the activities of Mr Angus Omosoro.

He also called on the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa to wedge into the issue to avoid anarchy in Idjerhe kingdom.

The most senior Unugbrogodo of Idjerhe Kingdom, Chief William Atiti expressed shock over some statements credited to Chief Dr Wilson Omene from Mosogar over the recent crowing of Idjerhe king, as he described it as a careless statement that does not befit his personality.

In his words, “Olorogun Wilson Omene statement is a mere window dressing exercise. He is a Mosogar man. He shouldn’t be interfering in the affairs of Idjerhe Kingdom. He should mind his business and concern himself with activities of Mosogar were is brother is king.”

“Idjerhe Kingdom has only one King in the person of HRM, Udurhie 1, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey,” he added.

On his part, the Unueworo of Jesse Central Oguedion and the Obarisi of Idjerhe Kingdom, Chief Prince Emmanuel Umukoro also said that Mr. Omasoro is not a king and can never be king in Idjerhe Kingdom.

Umukoro while expressing displeasure over the actions of Omasoro Angus and his cronies, told journalists that the emergence of HRM, Udurhie 1, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey as the Ovie-Elect of Idjerhe Kingdom was the divine will of God, adding that the people and well meaning sons and daughters of Idjerhe Kingdom have chosen their king.

Speaking in the same vein, Chief Godwin Ogedegbe Ofishe, the Unugbrogodo of Boboroku sub-clan also condemned the actions of Mr. Angus Omasoro, saying that he should stop insulting Idjerhe sons and daughters who are political office holders and other well meaning Deltans from the Kingdom.

Ofishe added that Idjerhe Kingdom has only one king, and that is the person of HRM, Udurhie 1, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey.

The council meeting was attended by over fifty chiefs from the three sub-clans that make up Idjerhe kingdom, Boboroku, Oyobru and Jesse central.
