Housemaid Allegedly Commits Suicide In Kano
A 16-year-old girl, Bahijja Gombe, living with a family as a maid on Zoo Road Housing Estate, Kano State, has allegedly committed suicide, The Punch reports.
Bahijja, an indigene of Gombe State, is reported to have hanged herself without leaving a suicide note.
According to a source, Bahijja, who was responsible for cleaning the house and attending to customers at her madam’s shop, was not enrolled in any school.
The source said her corpse was found hanging in a room at around 10pm, adding that many residents suspect a foul play.
The Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident, said the body had been deposited in the Murtala Muhammad Hospital’s morgue.
He added that investigations to unravel the circumstances that led to Bahijja’s alleged suicide was ongoing.
