BREAKING: Catholic Priest Kidnapped In Abraka
By Daniel Dafe, Abraka
The priest in charge of St. John’s Catholic Church in Obinomba, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, simply identified as Rev. Fr. Harrison Egwuenu, has been kidnapped.
The kidnap of the cleric said to have occurred at about 8p.m. on Monday took place at a bad spot in Oria-Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.
According to sources, he was returning back to base from Warri in his Highlander Jeep when the incidence occurred.
The kidnappers are said to have shot sporadically into the air to scare away passers-by at the scene of the operation and also prevent a possible resistance.
Oasis Magazine (OM) learnt that the cleric’s car was abandoned as they whisked Father Harrison away.

A member of the vigilante in the area who spoke with OM via telephone, said they heard the terrifying gun shots by the kidnappers and there was no way they could combat them with their ‘shoot and run’ guns.
“It looked like they came to fight a war. We have so far picked about 15 shells which are bullets from their AK-47 gun,” the security operative said.
At the time of filing this report, the police from Abraka Division were at the scene of the incidence to strategise a possible rescue mission for the cleric.
Attempts to speak with the police authority in the state about the kidnap proved abortive.
