Sapele: NPC Begins Demarcation, Delineation, As Richard Ogirisen Urges Residents To Cooperate
As the National Population Commission, NPC, begins preparation ahead of National Population Census schedule to hold sometime later in the year, workers of the commission have started delineation and demarcation of houses to enable them know the number of houses and individuals occupying the area.
The Councillor representing the people of Ward 1, Hon Richard Ogirisen, in Sapele Local Government Area, has appealed to the people of the ward to cooperate with field workers of the commission.
Ogirisen who spoke to journalists while taking NPC field workers who had come for demarcation and delineation round ward one in preparation for the national census coming up later in the year, said “let me use this opportunity to reach out to people of this ward that they should please cooperate with these field workers, you know later in the year they will be coming over for the proper census, we should please assist them in whatever way we can.

“We should cooperate with the field workers by allowing them access to our premises for the actual population figure to be captured,” he appealed.
Ogirisen said the demarcation and delineation exercise became imperative primarily because of the nation’s quest to get the proper census for the nation.
Adding that the NPC has the statutory powers to collect, analyze and disseminate demographic data in the country.
It is also mandated to undertake demographic sample surveys, compile, collate and publish migration and civil registration statistics as well as monitor the country’s Population Policy and should be given all the assistance they need to enable them do their job effectively.
