Birthday: Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri Celebrates His Father At 85
Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri and other members of the Diri family came together to honour and celebrate Pa Abraham Joseph Michael Diri as he clocks 85 years.
Speaking on Sunday at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Sampou in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State during a service in honour of his 85-year-old father, Governor Diri described his dad as a compassionate man who never joked with his fatherly duties.
He said his dad ensured he was at peace with those around him at all times.
“This is a father like no father; he loves his family with passion. He is very fond of his younger brothers and we learnt a lot from him in keeping the family strong and united.
“All I can say on behalf of all the children is to thank him for his investments in us, thank you papa.”

The Governor also thanked the church, St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Sampou, for recognizing his dad who has been an active Lay reader (someone authorized to conduct parts of the church services not requiring a priest or minister).
