Edo PDP Is Resetting, I Will Unify Party, Says Acting Chairman

By Daniel Dafe, Abraka

Following the recent developments in the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Edo State, Hon. Harrison Omagbon, Acting Chairman, has said that Edo PDP is actually resetting, adding that he will unify the party.

In a statement on Wednesday, Omagbon
appealed to members and supporters to first accept their profound regret for the uproar of the last few weeks, as well as the recent developments at the party secretariat.

According to the statement, he apologised on behalf of the State Working Committee, saying “I am deeply sorry.”

He continued: “The suspension of the erstwhile State Chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, was borne out of the allegations leveled against him and his confession to his guilt on 2 of the charges, most importantly the incitement of the expanded Working Committee to write an acrimonious letter to the National Working Committee. Nobody in the Working Committee wishes Dr. Aziegbemi to be criminalized. However, we cannot wish away our party’s sanctity, integrity and pride on the altar of parochial sentiments. That is why we have set up a committee to investigate and unearth the facts of these allegations.”

Continuing, he urged party faithful to always remember that the nation is at a very auspicious time in her democratic journey.

He said: “It is on record that our Governor is counted among those delivering the dividends of democracy to Edo people and Nigerians in general. We cannot engender a party culture of corruption and flagrant disregard for the wishes of the people.”

“My task as acting Chairman, will be to unite our party and ensure that the unity which our electoral victory bestowed on us is sustained and enlarged, to the Glory of God,” the statement added.
