Supply Of School Furniture: Oghoro Warns Contractors Against Shoddy Jobs

Contractors for the supply of school furniture in public primary and secondary schools in the three Senatorial Districts of Delta State, have been advised to deliver the supply in line with the laid down specifications.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Ede Oghoro, gave the advice in his office in Asaba during stakeholders meeting he held with the successful bidders/ contractors including the representative of Setal Consolidated Entr,  Engr. Ken Okojie , Vera Omonigho representing Tamarakpo Salmon Entr and the representation of Urban Grise Verbissart  Venture, Mr. Morris Oghivibieghu.

Mr. Oghoro, who described the meeting  with the stakeholders  for the supply of the school furniture for teachers and learners as timely and necessary, congratulated them for their successful selection.

The Basic and Secondary Education Permanent Secretary, who commended the State Governor, Senator ( Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for his monumental achievements in the education sector, reiterated that the sector had continued to remain the Governor’s priority list.

Mr. Oghoro, however, implored them to shun shoddy jobs that could dent their image, adding that through effective job delivery, they could get opportunity for the expansion of their target markets.

Earlier, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the ministry, Dr. Felix Akporugo, who emphasised the need for them to adhere strictly to the guidelines for the job , noted that officials of the ministry and other stakeholders would monitor the production as well as the supply of the furniture.

Responding on behalf of other contracting firms,  a representative of the Setal Consolidated Entr, Engr. Ken Okojie, appreciated Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Augustine Ede Oghoro, for finding their companies worthy to be offered contract for the furniture supply.

Engr. Okojie, however, pledged their commitments to deliver the project in accordance with the specifications and on record time.

Present at the stakeholders meeting were the  Director of Finance and  Accounts in the ministry, Mr. Hope Ichekor , Deputy Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Anthony Akponovo and Architect Iduseri Orehine of from the Education Project Unit.
