“You’ll Give Account At Kirikiri Prison If You Give LG Funds To Governors” – Buhari Tells LGA Chairmen
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday warned local government council chairmen against handing over local government funds to their State governors.
The President’s statement, which was posted by an APC chieftain and a staunch supporter of Buhari, Joe Igbokwe, on his Facebook page, said any local government council chairman that is found culpable of handing over funds to their State governor will give account at EFCC or Kirikiri maximum prison.
His post read: “You people are just wasting your time, We have sent money directly to the Local Government Account this week. And if you like, withdraw the money from that account and hand it over to your Governor, you will give an account of it properly at EFCC or Kirikiri Maximum Prison.”
The statement came amidst the call for restructuring and devolution of power among the three-tiers of government.
