Gunmen Kidnap LP Governorship Candidate In Anambra

Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted Obiora Agbasimelo, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the November 6 Anambra election.
Recall that Agbasimelo had emerged as the governorship candidate of the party in a primary election held in the state some months ago.
The emergence of Agbasimelo led to a crisis in the party, and one of the leading aspirants in the primaries, Nnamdi Nnoruka, was allegedly kidnapped by unknown persons and forced to withdraw from the contest.
In other news, the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), has received no fewer than eleven new party members in Anambra State.
The defectors include five serving and four former House of Representatives members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) camps.

In a statement made available to newsmen by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General Press and Media Affairs to Governor Buni, the APC caretaker chairman gave the defectors a warm welcome, congratulating them for making the ‘right decision’ by joining the broom party.
Buni lauded lawmakers for bringing their people to the national movement. He said: “You have taken the right decision at the right time. You will enjoy all the rights and privileges of the party,”
