Ex International Boxer Wants APC Govt To Focus On Youths And Sports Development

By Obiagwu Chrys
Ex International boxer, Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo, has called on the Federal Government to demonstrate the sincere positive change being preached by APC Government in youth and sports development.
Speaking to newsmen in his residence in Enugu on Monday, Mazi Okoronkwo expressed disappointment, saying “it is now clear that Nigeria have failed again to participate in another International sports event that is programmed to build the capacity of boxers throughout the world.”
The said failures he said, have pushed national boxers to the extreme which according to him may be dangerous for the nation.
Mazi Okoronkwo continued lamenting: “Nigeria boxers were not seen at Toyko Olympics due to government’s inadequate action and now again Nigeria is not participating in World Boxing Championship at Belgrade due to same Government’s inadequate action.”
In view of these happenings, Mazi Comr Ikechukwu Okoronkwo called on both the Federal Ministry of youth and Sports Development Abuja and National Assembly to create sincere Financial independence to Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) so that NBF will know who to hold accountable for any short comings.
“Today no Nigerian is in the list and the big question is why?,” he questioned.
