We have written before now on the above subject but up till this moment, no action has been taken by the relevant authorities to address this lawlessness. One then begins to wonder: *IS CHIEF IGHOYOTA AMORI ABOVE THE LAW?*

When the supposed political leaders as well as citizenry of any society have formed the habit of, and have become *‘comfortable’* with *‘lawlessness’* as a norm, then that society is surely headed for doom.

It is in the interest of the Nigerian nation, and to avoid the prevalence of lawlessness exhibited by some persons who were opportune to be in government circles, that we once again consider it imperative to draw the attention of the relevant Federal Government Authorities and Security Operatives to an anomaly and illegality of high-impersonation observed in our public domain, where one Chief Ighoyota Amori (JP), is still parading himself as a *current Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Delta Central Senatorial District of Delta State, despite the official annulment of his election by the Court of Appeal in Benin, as a supposed Senator under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).*

It happened that the Court of Appeal sitting in Benin, Edo State, on December 19, 2015, annulled the election of Ighoyota Amori of the PDP as Senator Representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the Senate. The Appeal Court in its Judgment granted all the prayers of the Senatorial Candidate of the Labour Party in the March 28, 2015 election, Obaisi Ovie Omo-Agege, and subsequently, on January 28th, 2016, Omo-Agege was sworn in as the duly elected Senator currently Representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the Senate House of the National Assembly.

However, it appears Chief Ighoyota Amori has either not accepted the ‘reality’ of the annulment of his supposed election victory as Senator, or he has completely lost his mind because as we speak, the said Amori has been and is still parading himself across Delta State, and we believe beyond, as Senator Ighoyota Amori Representing Delta Central Senatorial District, and also the Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transport, which was his position held in the Senate House before his election was annulled.

We consider it as gross neglect of the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that someone, whose Senatorial election was annulled is still going about parading himself as a Senator of the Federal Republic, using this supposed ‘status’ of Senator, to do only God knows what. To the extent that the said Chief Ighoyota Amori recently used a letter-headed paper bearing the logo of The Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria, and his name boldly written on it as *SENATOR IGHOYOTA AMORI (JP), Delta Central Senatorial District, Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transport, Suite 1, 10 National Assembly Complex (Senate) Three Arms Zone, P. M. B. 141, Garki Abuja*; to send a Condolence message to one of his Political friends, Dr Chris Oghenechovwe, who lost his mother and the burial was done on Friday, April 15, 2016, at Otor-Udu LGA, Delta State, while the burial reception and laying instate was done at Owhrode Town, Udu LGA, Delta State, and the interment at Otor-Udu Town while the entertainment of guests was at Owhrode Town, Udu LGA, Delta State.

Aside from the fact the said Chief Ighoyota Amori, on his arrival at the said burial ceremony of his stated political friend’s mother, as “Senator Ighoyota Amori (JP), Senator Representing Delta Central Senatorial District,” the entire atmosphere was charged as people were seen hailing him “Senator! Senator!! Senator!!! And he was all smiles as he waved and appreciated the crowd of some supporters for acknowledging him as “Senator Amori”.

For still parading himself as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria despite the duly annulment of his supposed election by the Court of Appeal in Benin, and for still using letter-headed papers to suggest that he is still the *Senator Representing Delta Central Senatorial District and Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transport;* Chief Ighoyota Amori should promptly be arrested and adequately prosecuted for still parading himself as a Senator, thereby impersonating the position of the rightful sworn-in current Senator Obaisi Ovie Omo-Agege (who is the true Senator Representing Delta Central Senatorial District), and using his annulled position as Senator to deceive the public and create a false impression about his true self. The offence committed here by Chief Ighoyota Amori is an offence committed against the Nigerian State and as such, is punishable by the appropriate laws of the land.

Let us reiterate here that Chief Ighoyota Amori was never a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on account of the annulment of his supposed election by the Court of Appeal in Benin. And as such, he has no right to even refer to himself, or be called a Senator. The “Once a Senator Always a Senator” nomenclature does not apply to his case because, on account of the annulment of his supposed Senatorial election, Chief Ighoyota Amori was never a Senator. Hence, he has no legitimacy to still be parading himself as a Senator or using letter-headed papers to suggest he is still a Senator Representing Delta Central Senatorial District: that is the ‘deception’ of the highest order that should not be allowed to prevail.

We also believe the arrest and subsequent prosecution of Chief Ighoyota Amori will serve as deterrence to others who might be nursing or engaging in such actions. Nigerian politicians should be reminded that they are not above the law neither should they neglect nor disregard Court decisions concerning their elections. This lawlessness has to stop. We were able to get the GSM contact of Chief Ighoyota Amori: 08033079469 and we hope the relevant Security Operatives will use this and act accordingly.
