Obiaruku community, the headquarters of Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State was on Friday night, the 10th day of June, 2022, thrown into tension as herdsmen, believed to be of Fulani origin, once again, invaded farms located along Edo and Delta states boundary, which is known as ‘’reserved’’, and reportedly killed a middle aged woman and a man whose identities were yet to be confirmed as at the time of filling this report, were said to reside at Ogbe Obiaruku quarter.

Oasis magazine reporter was reliably informed that there was upheaval in Obiaruku yesterday as some able-bodied youths who took courage and entered the bush in search of the invaders were overpowered and chased away by the herdsmen who were more in numbers and held very sophisticated weapons, especially AK 47 guns .

Community chiefs where seen running helter skelter in their attempt to assemble at the palace of the traditional ruler known as Okpala-Uku, to enable them hold an emergency security meeting to determine defense measures to address the situation.

Sometime early last year, Obiaruku community gave the world headline news when a young man was arrested by the police with the help of the community vigilante. The young man, whose identity could not be readily ascertained, subsequently confessed that he belonged to a kidnapping cartel who specializes in kidnapping unsuspecting victims, carried them in a motorcycle to the Fulani herdsmen in the bush where they were killed and their body parts cut off and sold to ritualists who use the human organs for rituals, purposely for blood money.

The young man’s confession led to the arrest of some youths who are involved in ‘’Yahoo’ ’internet frauds.
The kidnapper equally led security men, consisting of the police, Army and community vigilante personnel to a fenced undeveloped plot located near the Ethiope river were the remains of the murdered victims are buried.

Attempts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Edafe Bright, proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
