Delta 2023: “James Ibori Is A Leader In PDP, I Am The Governor, There Are No Issues” –Okowa
By Daniel Dafe
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has denied any rift with former Governor James Ibori.
The governor, who said this during an interview with BBC Pidgin, opined that the disagreement in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over who is the authentic governorship candidate in the state is normal and “part of the political process of democracy.”
On Ibori, he added: “Our personal relationship is still very good. But as for the political aspect, we are all still watching and whatever the outcome is, we will all have to support the candidate. There are no issues with it. At the end of the day, whoever becomes the governorship candidate of the PDP due to the court ruling, we will all support the person.”
He continued: “The issue is, there are many people in the state and there are many people in the party and because the party is very big, there are plenty people with different views and if you watched the election well, you will notice they were many people who ran for the election about 12 or 13 people. People disagree but later on agree. That’s all part of the political game there are no issues.”
