2023: Reconciliation With Wike, Aggrieved PDP Governors Is Not Possible – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential nominee, has acknowledged that a reconciliation between him and Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and other disgruntled governors who were elected on the platform of the opposition party is not possible.

In a recent interview about the PDP’s internal problem, Atiku said that his camp has not yet reached an agreement with the angry party chieftains and that they have already moved on.

“We set the matter aside. We have moved on, so it is now history,” Atiku said in response to the interviewer.

According to Naija News, the former vice president was unable to mend fences with five PDP governors in time for the 2023 general elections.

The PDP’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, was to be replaced with a Southerner before the 2023 elections, but Atiku became insistent about their demands after becoming the presidential candidate.

Atiku insisted during his interview with VOA that he opposes Ayu’s dismissal. The Wazirin of Adamawa stated that it would be foolish to make such a choice given the impending elections.

As election season approaches, Atiku remarked, “It is not appropriate, at this time, to contemplate a change of leadership of our party.”

He also expressed confidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will preside over free and fair elections in February of the next year.

We have observed how they conducted two elections in Ekiti and Osun, which is why we say this.

We have commended them for successful outings in both instances. Additionally, President Buhari has guaranteed us that he will permit 2023 elections to be transparent, free, and fair, the presidential candidate continued.

Cabals would not run my administration.

Atiku declared that, if elected as the next president of Nigeria, his administration would not be overthrown by cabals in reference to the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He claims that if elected as the next president of Nigeria in the upcoming presidential election, his government won’t be controlled by any individuals seeking to dominate the country’s business.

Remember that Hajiya Aisha Buhari, the president’s wife, had publicly accused Aso Rock of being run by a cabal, an accusation the president refuted in multiple interviews.

But if elected, Atiku swore that he would not let any group control policy in the corridors of power.

There is no cabal in my government, I assure you.

Atiku told Aliyu Mustapha Sokoto, the head of the VOA’s Hausa Service, during an interview at the station in Washington on Tuesday, “It is I: Waziri (Atiku) that will lead the administration.

Atiku also revealed during the interview that he is travelling to the United States to meet with government representatives to address the country’s problems with insecurity, the economy, and the next elections in 2023.

In order to allow states and local governments, whom we aim to give the green light to manage their own matters, to do so, we would address this issue by calling for a constitutional review. However, doing so necessitates changing the constitution.

Prior to starting, Atiku allegedly stated, “We aim to deploy more boots on the ground, especially in the field of policing and civil defence, all of which we want to equip adequately.”

The former vice president pledged that his administration would work closely with the legal system to ensure that criminal cases were heard quickly, noting that he would support the application of the death penalty for offences related to terrorism.
