Group Accuses Kporo, Uparan Of Working Against PDP In Udu

The duo of Chief Mathew Uparan and Elvis Kporo ,both chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party and executive members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Udu LGA of Delta State, have been accused of working against PDP in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just concluded 2023 general elections.

Speaking with journalists on behalf of a newly inaugurated group under the aegis of “Integrity Caucus”,the Secretary, Comr. Mike Igho alleged that both leaders were grossly involved in anti-party activities through calculated political strategies to ensure that PDP fail in their wards.

Alleging that Uparan and Kporo did not commit themselves to the success of PDP in Wards 7 and 10 respectively, the group urged the LG and Ward Executive committees of the party to probe the allegation of their involvement in the anti-party activities being leveled against them.

It was noted that during the 2023 electioneering campaign, there was desperacy to win as usual, therefore a group of persons and prominent individuals were being wooed, hence the meeting with the Udu chapter of the N.U.R.T.W and Sen. Ovie Omo- Agege whereby positions were allegedly bargained for and used as baits to deliver APC in the LGA.

“Since they were assured of getting their desired offices should APC win the state, they were said to have collected a whopping sum of #4m to deliver the party, APC.

Meanwhile, with the believe that they were chieftains of the PDP, they were also entrusted with about 450 Thousands Naira for PDP party agents which they failed to utilize since they had secretly pitched tent with the APC in view of what they were promised.

“In fact, persons like Kingsley Idoghor, Innocent Sati and a host of others were lured by them to decamp from PDP to APC with the hope that both leaders would follow suit but rather, they stayed put in PDP to work for APC.

“Having worked against our party and still remain in the party, they are now claiming the glory of true workers, hence we are using this medium to call on the leadership of the party to probe the anti-party allegations and if found wanting should be made to face the disciplinary panel in order to serve as deterent to others,” the group noted.

Speaking further, Chief Dr. Henry Sakpra, Honorable Commissioner for Special Duties and a host of other leaders were, however commended for standing solidly behind the PDP in Udu.
