DELSU VC, Professor Egwunyenga, Bags SSANU Award

Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Delta State University, Abraka Branch, has presented an award to the Vice Chancellor of.the institution, Professor Andy Egwunyenga.
Professor Egwunyenga was honoured at the weekend during the plenary of the 6th Regular Meeting of the Zonal Executive Council, South-South of the Association.
Speaking during the occasion, Chairman of the branch who doubles as the Secretary of the zone, Comrade Monday Izu, lauded the VC over the “uncommon synergy, cooperation and best of harmonious industrial relationship that exists between SSANU and the Management.”

He continued: “Though, it is a common knowledge that this Management is delivering on all the core values of the University, I wish to specially draw the attention of this audience to the Vice-Chancellor’s magic wand that has transformed our hitherto overgrown, forested and dirt-laden surroundings into an enviable green, serene, hygienic, safe, healthy and exquisite environment.”
Adding: “Within a space of two years into the tenure of this administration, the campus bushes and forest that served the purpose of rodents, reptiles and hoodlums were demystified and replaced with well trimmed green grasses and flourishing ornamental plants (flowers).”
According to him, “this unprecedented show of transformational leadership that has shown in sudden positive change in our environment should not be over looked and uncommended,” saying that “SSANU has therefore decided to honour the Vice-Chancellor with an award of the ‘GREEN PANTHER OF DELSU’.”
The elated Vice-Chancellor thanked the union for the honour, just as he commended SSANU for standing out with its quality leadership and as well mounting pressure on the management cadre to get what is due them.
Furthermore, he said that the award is special because it was presented to him by those he leads.
Prof. Egwunyenga promised to continue to do his best for the university.
