Comptroller Chana Charges Officers To Intensify Surveillance Along Border Areas
In a bid to strengthen customs operations and boost efficiency in the northern regions of Kano and Jigawa, Customs Area Controller, Kano/Jigawa Area Command, Comptroller Dauda Chana, has charged men and officers of the Command to intensify surveillance along border areas.
Comptroller Chana gave the charge on 21st October 2023, during an official visit to the Maigatari and Jeke Outstations, as well as Babura checkpoints, a Nigeria Border to the Niger Republic. The visit was to have the on-the-spot assessment of the level of compliance following the presidential directive on border closure.
The CAC, accompanied by senior officers, emphasized the need for vigilance and stringent enforcement of customs regulations to curb smuggling activities in the area.
He said, “I urge officers and men to remain steadfast, vigilant, proactive and security conscious”.

Following the visit to Maigatari, the CAC reiterated the importance of securing the nation’s borders and preventing the illicit flow of goods and revenue leakages.
“We must remain unwavering in our commitment to protect the national economy from unscrupulous individuals who engage in smuggling,” he said.
“Our duty is to ensure that goods are properly declared, and the necessary customs duties are paid,” he concluded.
