NLC, TUC Strike: Warri, Uvwie Banks Remain Closed As Customers Besiege ATM
By Ambrose Ologide
Following the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC ) and Trade Union Congress (TUC ), banks monitored by our correspondent in the twin local government areas of Warri South and Uvwie Local Government Areas remained closed as at the time of filing this report.
However, some of the ATM of the said banks were besieged by customers who waited to collect cash.
One of the desperate customers, Jonah Akpan who spoke to our correspondent in the ATM premises of one of the commercial banks in the Warri Garage Area complained that he was caught unawares by the national strike actions of the two labour unions and that he was desperately in need of cash to meet his financial expenses.
Akpan explained that he avoided POS operators for the fear of being exploited.

Marian Jato who spoke to our correspondent appealed to managements of commercial banks to always fill their ATM with cash during the strike action in the interest of the masses.
She expressed fears that POS operators will soon capitalise on the strike action to exploit the masses.
