For allegedly sabotaging the victory of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kano State during the 2023 general elections, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been urged to revisit the eleventh hour appointment of Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri.

Th group of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) under the umbrella of Accountability Forum (AF) threatened to embark on massive protest in Abuja and Kano should President Tinubu fail to revisit the appointment.

Sharada was the Kano State governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, (ADP) in 2023 and a member of the House of Representatives.

Less than a day before he ceased to be Nigeria’s leader, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Sha’aban Sharada as the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out of School Children.

Leaders of the CSOs in a briefing in Abuja accused Sharada of frustrating the effort of the former Governor of the state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in retaining the state for the party.

The CSOs led by Edoja Oghenekevwe of Pan African Youths further accused Sharada of insulting stakeholders of the party both at national and state level due to his quest for power.

Oghenekevwe said: ” Sharada challenged the former Governor who is now the party national chairman and sabotaged the entire success of APC in Kano State and also insulted stakeholders of the party in Kano State.

“After he lost the election, he quietly connived with the former PPS to the Ex-president that is Tunde and made his way to be appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Almajiri commission which is not yet confirmed and by so doing, he is still serving the former President, and he is currently outside the country soliciting for funds from donor agencies. He should be arrested immediately he enters the country.”

The Convener further called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to beam it’s search light on activities of the interventionist agency and possibly invite Sharada for questioning, while stressing on the need for party stakeholders to look into the matter carefully and prevail on the President to do the needful.
