Monthly Sanitation To Hold In Delta Saturday

The monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of January, 2024 will hold across Delta State on Saturday January 27, 2024.
Theresa Adiabia Oliko, Director of Public Communication, whom disclosed this in a statement on Friday, added that the exercise will hold between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00am.
“During the period of the exercise, there will be restrictions on the movement of vehicles and persons.
“Residents are advised to cut overgrown weeds, desilt their drainages and keep their environment clean to prevent the spread of diseases, as it is the responsibility of every residents to clean 20 metres radius of their premises,” the statement said.
According to the statement, “the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Environment Mr. Jamani Tommy Ejiro, the Permanent Secretary, staff of Ministry, Environmental, Taskforce on Environment and other relevant authorities will monitor the clean-up exercise.”
Adding: “Officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board, local government council and other relevant authorities will evacuate the resultant waste to approved dump sites.”
“Accordingly, those found not participating in the exercise will be brought before mobile courts for prosecution,” the statement concluded.
