VGN Commander General, Usman Mohammed Jahun PhD, fsi, said this in his New Year statement, made available to Oasis Magazine on Wednesday.

His words: “I’m aware that Last year 2023, we lost over 60 of our soldiers. Majority in the devilish hands of bandits, kidnappers and criminals, others, either through accident or ill health. In all these, we give to God all glory. I will do all things humanly possible to making sure that their struggle for a peaceful Nigeria was not in vain. May their souls rest in peace.

Meanwhile, he assured men of the security outfit that “it’s a new dawn,” saying that 2023 will be a “new year filled with prosperity, breakthrough and open doors of favour, good health and long life.”

He continued: “Last year was a year of labour, labour towards the signing of our bill. As your Commander General, with the power of God, I assure you that this year 2024 shall favour us, it shall deliver us a new VGN backed by the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.”

Adding: “Celebration shall not be far from us.”

Furthermore, he appreciated all the “state Commanders for not giving up despite all the rivalry and huddles faced during the struggle,” just as he encouraged them not to relent, saying: “Soon you shall reap the labour of your good works.”

“To all my national officers, I say thank you. Thank you for your steadfastness, your loyalty and passion for the work. You all have been amazing.

“I commend all VGN Members especially those on joint operations with the army and other security agencies, those who have made the bush and forest their home just to make sure others sleep in peace. Your labour, bravery and gallantry has never been taken for granted. I see you, well done,” he added.
