Delta NUJ Moves To Establish Chapels For Online Media Practitioners

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Delta State Council, has urged online media practitioners in the state that have at least a 15-member workforce to apply to have a chapel.

A statement on Tuesday signed by the secretary, Comrade Victor Sorokwu, said this move was “in furtherance of the NUJ Delta Council Policy to reform and restructure some Chapels under the Council,” saying “the Secretariat is calling for practitioners on Online platforms to submit their professional credentials and particulars of registration to the Office of the State Secretary* on or before 31st March, 2024.”

According to the statement, “respective online platforms, which have the requisite staff strength of 15 members can as well apply to be registered as a full Chapel.”

Adding: “Intending members of the proposed NUJ Delta Online Chapels are also requested to pay an annual professional fees of #25,000 (Twenty Five Thousand Naira Only).”

The statement said further: “Chapel leaderships are by this notice directed to furnish the State Secretariat with a list of their members who are online practitioners.”
