By Daniel Dafe
The Member representing Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, Lagos State and Chairman, House Committee on Federal Polytechnics and Higher Technical Education, Hon. Fuad Kayode Laguda, has said that the students’ loan scheme will kick off in September.
He said this in Orogun, Delta State, on Saturday while responding to questions from journalists during the maiden matriculation ceremony of Federal Polytechnic, Orogun.
A journalist had asked to know what was stalling the commencement of the laudable initiative.
His words: “It is not being stalled and there is nothing affecting it. It is going to kick off in September this year.
“You can’t just start just like that. They have to put things together and things are already ongoing about it.”
Meanwhile, Hon. Laguda who represented the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen at the event, commended Federal Polytechnic, Orogun for the smooth takeoff of the institution.
He said: “They have started well. The approval for this institution was granted in 2022 by the last regime and you are coming here barely two years after and you won’t come into this institution and say you are not seeing something that is magnificent. The institution already has faculties approved and the others will get approved in good time.”
Furthermore, he advised the institution not to rest on their laurels, saying “they should take it beyond what they have started with; but I can testify today that they are doing well.”
