In what it described as “substantial non compliance with the provisions of the electoral act”, the Labour Party has filed a petition at the Delta State Local government election petition tribunal in Asaba, seeking the cancellation of the just concluded council polls in Aniocha South.

Labour Party is seeking the cancellation of the elections in which DSIEC declared Jude Chukwunweike of the PDP as duly elected winner

Labour Party’s grounds for the cancellation of the local government election for Aniocha South, is that among others, election did not hold in virtually all the DSIEC wards in Aniocha South, as thousands of eligible voters did not exercise their franchise due to non availability of voting materials at their various units.

The party also alleged that none of their agents signed the purported result sheets which DSIEC falsefully collated to declare the PDP Candidate, Chukwunweike winner, an action that falls short of substantial compliance with electoral laws.

According to the Labour Party petition, Delta State lndependent Electoral Commission ( DSIEC), Hon Jude Chukwunweike and the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) , are the first, second , and third respondents, respectively, in the petition.
