Delta Police Confirm Release Of Kidnapped Former Commissioner, Joan Onyemaechi

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe has just officially confirmed that Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi (Ada-Anioma) has been released by her abductors.
“This is confirmed pls,” he added in terse message on Saturday.
Although no further details were given, sources said the kidnapped former Delta State commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Joan Onyemaechi, regained her freedom late Friday night.
While details about her release were still sketchy, sources said the former House of Representatives member has arrived the state capital.

Recall that the abductors earlier demanded one billion naira as ransom. It is still unclear if any money was paid before she was set free.
The former Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), and House of Representatives member who represented Aniocha South State Constituency and Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency was abducted on the 30th of July 2024.
This development is contrary to earlier reports that claimed she was killed by the kidnappers.
