Delta Poly Rector Calls For More Research Works To Develop Nation’s Potentials

The Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe Oghara, Ethiope West L.G.A Delta State, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri has said that, to drive the full potentials of the nation’s resources and manpower development, the Federal Government of Nigeria needs to focus more on science based infrastructure that will change the story of underdevelopment and economic retrogression to that of progressive and economic abundance.

Professor Ufuophu-Biri dropped this hint at the school main auditorium during the 2nd in the series of Delta State Polytechnic inaugural lectures: Entitled “From Titbits to Network Systems: A social Network Perspective organised by the school.

He said that as we face challenges and difficulties, we must be ready to surmount any difficulty, adding that our nation must be adequately ready to face challenges and difficulties as it comes as a sure way that will make the country develop, adding that our nation must be adequately ready to face challenges and solve them.

The erudite professor noted that the world has become more conscious of the need to conserve the natural resources in the environment and promote more innovations leading towards accelerated development, stressing that Nigeria should constantly realize the need to domesticate a significant portion of her economic derivatives which are major sources of wealth toward accelerated development.

He affirmed that digitalization remains a modern trend that facilitates communication and urged the students to embrace networking and communication to increase their knowledge and wealth creation “We communicate to engage intellectual discourse using network and digitalization as tools. Our students are disciplined and well behaved and willing to learn. We will give them the necessary support to develop their skills and talents. As a purely science and technology based institution, the school has been committed to a technological breakthrough that will promote development”.

He explained that his administration was fully committed to significantly enrich the academic programmes and ensure that they continue to replenish and sustain the pool of virile and professionally competent lecturers and management staff.

Professor Ufuophu-Biri disclosed that the new administrative block was nearing completion as well as the re-roofing of the school’s modern stadium.

He commended HRM Orefe III, Ovie of Oghara kingdom and Otefe Community for their support towards the growth and development of the school.

Professor Ufuophu-Biri formally presented a 2.5KVA fuel-less generator produced by the school to the public.

The Dean, School of Engineering of the school, Engr. Collins Oghenerhoro Oniyemofe who led the team that designed and constructed the 2.5KVA said that the school has also embarked on a special automated pumping/drilling machine that will soon be unveiled.

The Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Professor Johnbull Ogheneyerhovwo Tonukari who unveiled the 2.5 KVA Fuel-less generator said that Otefe poly has made remarkable achievements since Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri took over, urging other higher institutions to emulate it.

A chief lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, School of the Applied Science and Technology, Mr. Akanmu Amidu Akinpelumi Gbolasere delivered the 2nd in the series of lectures of the school.

The chairman of the Board of Governing Council of the school (DSPT), Chief Barr. Andrew Orugbo said that the Board made a good choice by employing Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, adding that he has performed excellently well in his duty and post.

He noted that Professor Ufuophu-Biri has improved on the academic standard and development of the school as a competent school administrator.
