OPINION: Truth About The President’s Speech
By Opeoluwa (X user)
The president’s speech was neither compelling nor persuasive as he deemed it fitting for the present circumstances.
The president understands this protest is politically motivated notwithstanding the genuine groaning of Nigerians.
He has two options ;-
Play to the detractors’ rules, cower to the threat and weaponization of protest, be held under the constant fear of protest through out his first term and be distracted.

OR
Be unmoved by the actions of the detractors under the guise of protests, get them worn out by his silence. Get them spent over their protest while he maintains his cool and acts unfazed.
These allow the detractors lose their hold and the weaponization of protest over the administration while he works without the threat and intimidation of protest for the remaining 2 years and 8 months.
He has chosen the second option
His Speech was simply calling out his detractors- “if that is all you have got, I am unfazed.”
