DPO Allegedly Beats Up Chief Jessa Over Death Of Son In Kidnappers’ Den

The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Escravos Division, SP Idikiri Godwin, has blamed Chief Harrison Jessa for the death of his son, Idikiri Macbel Oghenevwede, who died in kidnappers’ den recently.

Recall that Chief Jessa’s son, Joshua Jessa and his friend, Macbel, were recently kidnapped in Abraka.

Parents of the two victims had agreed to pay the sum of Six Million Naira and Four Million Naira for Joshua
and Macbel respectively. But on Sunday, hours to the deadline, Chief Jessa received a call from his son that he had escaped from the bush.

Oasis Magazine gathered that Joshua escaped out of the bush till he got to a community he later discovered was Kokori. Immediately, he out a call to his father using a stranger’s phone. Thereafter, accompanied by some security outfits, the community leader was able to locate his son in Kokori. He was immediately taken to Eku for treatment.

Unfortunately, the corpse of Macbel was found days later. He also attempted to escape but was unlucky.

Speaking to Oasis Magazine on Saturday afternoon, Chief Jessa narrated how he was beaten up by the father of the deceased who said he (Jessa) is responsible for the death of his son.

According to Jessa, he had gone to the DPO’s residence in Abraka on a condolence visit when he was attacked and seriously beaten up by the DPO and others numbering 15.

In his words: “I narrowly escaped to Abraka police station. I lost my gold chain worth over a million Naira. My over 25 million Naira car parked at his residence was also damaged. My laptop was also stolen.”

He continued: “I have received several deaths from him. He said he has evidence that I killed his son. I supported his release from police custody when he searched for me to the station. I considered the ordeal he has gone through since the news of his son’s death. He ought to have been arrested for beaten me up mercilessly supported by others.

“But at the moment, we have both been invited by the Commissioner of Police. The police officer has been threatening my life. He also said he would wipe out all of my family members. I am shocked that he is blaming me for his son’s death. My son was also shot like his son, but the bullet injured him in his head close to his eyes. It was a narrow escape for my boy too. If not God, he too would have been dead.”‍

Furthermore, he said: “I want the whole world to know what this police officer is threatening to do. My life and that of my family are under threat.”

Meanwhile, attempts to speak with the police officer proved abortive at the time of this report.
