Let’s Throw Away Our Bitterness, Support Governor Oborevwori, Chief Kings Okpako Tells Abraka People

By Daniel Dafe
The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Political Matters, Chief Kings Okpako, has called on the people of Abraka community to continue to support the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, just as he urged them to jettison the ‘Abraka Agenda’ mantra and reain pro-PDP.
The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state and Ighosiri of Oruarivie-Abraka Kingdom spoke to Oasis Magazine in an exclusive chat recently.
Recall that in recent times, some indigenes of the community said Abraka can only get major political positions by supporting opposition parties, thus they came up with the ‘Abraka Agenda’ mantra.
His words: “I advise my Abraka people at this time that we should throw away our bitterness of myopic ‘Abraka Agenda’. We should work tirelessly with our Executive Governor because he has brought development to Abraka and environs. Working tirelessly, he has proved himself as a governor for all. We have not seen these numbers of appointments before in Abraka and Ethiope East.

“In the early days in the 90s we only had two appointments in Abraka. But today, every ward in Abraka has about five appointments. Every ward was given 3 appointments after the election. Then, he used his own initiative to give appointments to others.
“Talking about development, look at what he is doing at Ekrejeta, our community road close to Zenith Bank. To construct a road now takes 10 times of what the state government was doing before because of the financial restrain and economic reconstruction and he’s touching lives. Gone are the days of Labour Party, AD, DLA, and his… thank God they have seen the light. I have been there and now I am here. I know what am telling you. We should all focus on how we can have the dividends of democracy.”
Chief Okpako who was chairman of the party in the local government continued: “So, Abraka should reason together and work in one accord, come together in 2027 so that we can have a reliable governor who will be there till 2031. No governor in Delta State has brought Julius Berger to develop Delta State. Look at what is happening in Warri in less than one year. That will tell you that he is a man with good heart who will not think about himself; one that has compassion and wants to develop his state. He mentioned it that he will bring development and make Warri an admiration of other communities. Warri is supposed to be a developed place, but look at what is happening there. Past governors did nothing there. One went to put BRT at the middle of the road. But thank God we have seen the light.”
