APC Group To PDP: Don’t Generalize Itsekiri Nation In Passing Confidence Vote On Gov Oborevwori

Itsekiri APC Support Group under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC, yesterday, charged members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Itsekiri ethnic to stop generalizing the Itsekiri nation in passing confidence vote on Gov Sheriff Oborevwori and pledging their total support to him beyond 2027.

The group while speaking to newsmen in Warri, Delta state, through its National Coordinator, Mr. Shola Emiko Amoye, said they were not against PDP members in Itsekiri passing a confidence vote on Gov. Oborevwori, but stated that generalizing their position with the confidence vote on Gov Oborevwori with the entire Itsekiri Nation is what they are against.

Amoye pointed out that the member representing Warri South Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Augustine Uroye, who moved the motion for the confidence vote and seconded by a former lawmaker, Hon Misan Ukubeyinje wouldn’t have said the entire Itsekiri Nation but PDP members in Itsekiri since all Itsekiris are not in PDP as claimed in the publication.

Speaking further, Amoye said, “Hon Augustine Uroye, who moved the motion and the former lawmaker, Hon Misan Ukubeyinje who seconded the motion knew that All Progressive Congress, APC, has the larger population of party members and it will be wrong if they ascribing their support and loyalty of Itsekiri Nation to Gov. Oborevwori.

“We are not against members of PDP passing confidence vote on the governor of the state but it should be done with restrictions because ltsekiri Nation is not for APC, PDP, Labour Party but for all political parties, so pledging the support of Itsekiri Nation to Gov Oborevwori shows there is no other political party in Itsekiri, hence we are saying no to it.

“We are more of APC in Itsekiri but that notwithstanding, we cannot say the entire Itsekiri Nation passes confidence vote on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu but we would say APC members in Itsekiri Nation since there are other political party.

“APC will continue to hold sway in Itseliri Nation and Delta state at large as we mobilize support for All Progressive Congress, APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Reelection come 2027 general elections.”
