He made an instant impact after coming on in the 41st minute, setting up a penalty kick that Captain Daniel Bameyi converted in the 63rd minute.
The Flying Eagles face a daunting task in the U20 AFCON, drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco. However, Coach Aliyu Zubairu is confident that his team has what it takes to make Nigeria proud on the international stage.
Coach Zubairu, who led El-Kanemi Warriors to a stunning 2023/24 NPFL title win in the President (Federation Cup) with a team of grassroots players, has promised to replicate that success with the Flying Eagles, showcasing the wealth of talent in Nigeria.
The return leg comes up on Friday at the same venue.
