DELSU: Ex-Students Of Biochemistry Department Visit Professor Tonukari

The Alumni of the Department of Biochemistry, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, on Wednesday, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, at his office in Asaba.

During the courtesy call, an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education, leadership and service to humanity was presented to the don by his former students.

Prof. Tonukari, visibly delighted to receive his former students, expressed joy and pride in their remarkable achievements across different fields.

He stated that ” DELSU is always on his mind”, and assured them that His Excellency, RT. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State will complete the abandoned Senate Building in no distant time.

The don further congratulated the alumni for coming together to establish the association, describing it as a laudable initiative that fosters unity, progress, and support among graduates of the department.

The Honourable Commissioner also encouraged some of them to venture into politics and leadership roles, emphasizing that professionals with integrity and vision are needed in governance.

Present with the Honourable Commissioner during the visit were some members of his management team, including: Mr. Augustine, Director of Finance and Accounts, The Director of Administration, Miss Alero, Director of Higher Education, Dr. Omoefe Special, Personal Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner.

Representing the Biochemistry Alumni DELSU, were Dr. Ejovi Osioma, Dr. Othuke Odeghe, Dr. Divine Onobrudu, Dr. Prince Edesiri Tesi, Mrs Elelegu Ebube Joan, Mr. Anthony Orhu, Mr. Jerry Okonedo and Miss Mofe Erorun.

The visit was a memorable reunion filled with warmth, laughter, and gratitude — a beautiful reflection of the enduring bond between a teacher and his students.

It also reinforced the spirit of excellence and mentorship that DELSU continues to uphold.
