The Ovie of Orogun Kingdom stated that he should be addressed as ‘ Adaka the 1’.

Adaka 1 who spoke to our correspondent at an exclusive media chat shortly after his inaugural address, stated that the absence of an Ovie has robbed the kingdom of a lot of good things.

He therefore assured that “by the grace of God, my ovieship will attract progress to Orogun Kingdom.

“I will do everything before God and man to move Orogun Kingdom forward,” he promised.

Adaka 1, however sought for the support and prayers of Orogun people to enable him to carry out his good agenda for the kingdom.

Speaking on those who are opposed to his emergence as the Ovie of Orogun Kingdom, he stated that there is no place that there will be no such opposition particularly on the installation of an Ovie.

He however added that ” the majority will always have their way and the minority will have their say.”

He also made it clear that his emergence as Ovie of Orogun Kingdom does not undermine the existence of the office of the present Okparuku of Orogun Kingdom.

Adaka 1 however quickly added that the Ovieship institution is the new dispensation in Orogun Kingdom and that the present Okparuku is recognized till his exit.

The President General of Orogun Kingdom, Chief Bennis Agbonifo seems to have thrown more light on this, when she recalled in a media chat with our correspondent that some time in 1990 during the life time of Late Chief Justice Omo- Agege (the biological father of Senator Ovie Omo- Agege where it was agreed that Orogun Kingdom should have an Ovie and that since then, there have been obstacles to the actualization to it and that in 2024, her predecessor, Chief. Barr. Benson Onogharigho Ndakara set up an Ovieship committee of which she was the secretary and that a referendum was held by the 5 sub clans of Umusu, Unukpo, Emonu, Imodje and Ogwa that comprised Orogun Kingdom where it was agreed that Orogun Kingdom should have an Ovie and that the ovieship should be on a rotational basis among the said five sub clans ”

Thank God, the purpose of the referendum has been achieved today with the crowning of a highly qualified personality.

Agbonifo who bears the title of ‘ Edjenakpo ( lioness) of Orogun Kingdom added that “It is a welcome development. Life is about transformation.
We are so happy that today we have an enlightened Ovie; a digital Ovie who will lead us to the promised land. I can see that we are already in the promised land with Adaka 1 as our Ovie,” she added.

High point of the historic event was the traditional installation of Chief Andi Kayoma Osawota as the Ovie of Orogun Kingdom by the Ukomo ( Chief Priest) of the kingdom, Chief Thomas Onovughe which triggered jubilations among those present.

The installation was graced by a cross section of Orogun king makers, which included the Ekpara or their representatives, executives of Okparuku in Council, and chiefs, among others.

Adaka the 1, until his installation as the Ovie of Orogun Kingdom, bears the exalted title of Ogba (strong man) of Orogun Kingdom.
