Revenue Taskforce Seals Off Hostels In Abraka Over Unpaid Levies
The revenue collection task force in Ethiope East Local Government Council has sealed off two hostels in Abraka town following the alleged failure of the property owners to pay a stipulated amount into the council coffers.
Executing an order issued by the Delta State Revenue Court holden at isiokolo, the task force personnel, aided by men of the Nigeria Police, visited the two defaulting hostels to seal off their premises after ordering the occupants to immediately vacate their apartments.
The two hostel were Glorious Hostel and Horney Grick Hostel located at the FSP area of the university town.
According to the judgement sighted by our reporter, Glorious Hostel is alleged to owe the sum of N126,000, while Honey Grick Hostel is said to owe a total of N250,000.
The judgment order reads in part: “Take notice that judgment having been entered against you on the 29th day of October, 2025 and the court having ordered you to pay the total sum of N126,000.
“You are hereby served this judgment demand and to pay the said sum aforesaid.
“And take further notice that at the expiration of the prescribed period, your moveable asset throughout the state or shall come into the state shall be attached, sealed and auctioned in satisfaction of the judgment debt and cost in accordance with the law.”

An occupant of one of the sealed hostels told our reporter that a policeman showed her the court order and gave her five minutes to leave the premises, warning of arrest if she did not comply.
Students affected by the seal-off expressed frustration over the development, saying they were unsure where to go or stay until the issue is resolved.
Efforts to reach the owners of the sealed properties for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
