Abraka DPO Visits DELSU, As VC Seeks More Cooperation To Fight Crime In Abraka

The Vice Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has called for increased cooperation with the Abraka Division of the Nigeria Police, to ensure that the University is a crime-free environment.

Professor Asagba made this appeal during a recent courtesy visit by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Abraka Division of the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police.

He stated that his role as Vice Chancellor is comparable to that of a police officer, as both positions require prompt and decisive responses to duty calls.

The Vice Chancellor further appealed to the DPO to ensure thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of suspects within the division.

He expressed displeasure over the swift release of suspects caught in the act of committing crimes.

In conclusion, Professor Asagba informed the DPO that he is currently reorganising the University’s security architecture.

In his remarks earlier, the Divisional Police Officer of the Abraka Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Kolo Dauda Musa, informed the Vice Chancellor that the visit was aimed at familiarising himself with the University through the Office of the Vice Chancellor. CSP Musa also stated that as a committed police officer, he had come to seek fatherly counsel from the Vice Chancellor to assist him in combating crime within the area. He concluded by assuring the Vice Chancellor that he should contact him whenever the need arises.

Dignitaries present at the courtesy visit included Vice Chancellor of DELSU, Prof Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Edmund Aviedo Atakpo, the University Registrar, Mrs Rufina Ufiofio, the University Bursar, Mrs Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, Deputy Registrar in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Mrs Ejiro Etobro, the University Public Relations Officer, Mr Henry Eseka, DELSU Chief Security Adviser, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Michael Taga (Rtd), and DELSU Chief Security Officer, Flight Lieuteant Ifeanyi Odita (Rtd). Others were the DPO of Abraka Division, CSP Kolo Dauda Musa, the Abraka Division Station Officer, ASP Ibitoye Jimoh and the Abraka Divisional Crime Officer, CSP Collins Onye.
