Oasis Magazine Publisher Felicitates Prof. Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri On His Birthday

ABRAKA/OTEFE-OGHARA – The Publisher of Oasis Magazine, Pastor Daniel Umukoro, has felicitated with the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Olorogun Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a distinguished academic, visionary administrator and community leader.

In a goodwill message on Sunday, Pastor Umukoro, on behalf of the management and editorial team of Oasis Magazine, celebrated Professor Ufuophu-Biri for his outstanding contributions to higher education, institutional development, community leadership, and the advancement of journalism and communication in Delta State and beyond.

The Publisher described the Rector as a trailblazing scholar whose commitment to excellence, innovation and service has continued to make a positive impact on the institutions and communities he has served.

A Legacy of Excellence in Academia and Administration

Professor Ufuophu-Biri, a renowned Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has served as Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, since February 2022.

Under his leadership, the polytechnic has continued to record remarkable progress in academic development, infrastructural advancement, administrative efficiency and institutional visibility.

Before his appointment as Rector, Professor Ufuophu-Biri held several key positions at DELSU, including Director of Academic Planning, Director of the DELSU Pre-Degree Programme from 2018 to 2021, and Head of the Department of Mass Communication from 2015 to 2019.

His tenure as Head of Department was marked by significant milestones, including the production of the department’s first six First-Class graduates, establishment of postgraduate M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes, attainment of full academic accreditation, and the acquisition of a full operational NBC broadcast licence for the university radio station.

Distinguished Scholar and Community Leader

An alumnus of the University of Ibadan, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Delta State University, Abraka, Professor Ufuophu-Biri has received several academic and professional honours for his contributions to scholarship and professional development.

He was a U.S. Government International Visitors Leadership Programme (IVLP) Fellow in 2009 and a Pioneer Fellow at Brown University’s Brown International Advanced Research Institutes (BIARI) in the United States.

He has also delivered academic lectures and participated in scholarly engagements at renowned institutions, including Harvard University, the University of Memphis, the University of South Florida and Abertay University in Scotland.

Professor Ufuophu-Biri holds the traditional title of Omoko of Oghara Kingdom, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the development of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, as well as his commitment to education, leadership and community development.

Pastor Umukoro prayed for God’s continued guidance, divine wisdom, good health and renewed strength for Professor Ufuophu-Biri as he continues to contribute to the development of education and society.

He wished the Rector many more years of impactful service, noting that his wealth of experience, scholarship and commitment to mentoring younger generations would continue to inspire many.
