Five Years Of Royal Renaissance: Delta Bureau Celebrates Ogiame Atuwatse III, Visionary Father Of The Itsekiri Nation

The Management and Staff of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Governor’s Office, Asaba, has felicitated with His Imperial Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri Kingdom, on the occasion of his fifth remarkable anniversary on the royal throne, describing the milestone as a celebration of an illustrious reign defined by visionary leadership, cultural renaissance, peace, unity and transformative development in the ancient Warri Kingdom and across the Itsekiri Nation.

In a goodwill message signed by the Director-General of the Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq., the Bureau said the five years of Ogiame Atuwatse III’s reign have marked a significant chapter in the history of the Iwere people, with the revered monarch bringing to the throne a rare blend of ancestral wisdom, intellectual depth, modern vision and an abiding commitment to the welfare and advancement of his people. It noted that His Imperial Majesty has demonstrated, with uncommon dignity, that the essence of royalty lies not merely in the splendour of the crown, but in the sacred responsibility to preserve heritage, inspire unity and create opportunities for generations yet unborn.

The Bureau particularly commended the Olu’s remarkable strides in human capital development, education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and economic empowerment, noting that these initiatives have given practical expression to his vision of a progressive and prosperous Warri Kingdom. It highlighted the interventions of the Royal Iwere Foundation and the establishment of the Iwere Trust Fund, including His Majesty’s personal donation of N750 million, as compelling evidence of a monarch whose royal authority is matched by a profound sense of service and compassion for his people.

According to the Bureau, His Imperial Majesty has also distinguished his reign through the deliberate preservation and promotion of Itsekiri culture, history and identity, ensuring that the rich heritage of the Iwere people remains relevant in an increasingly globalised world. His Majesty’s efforts to unite Itsekiris at home and in the diaspora, promote cultural consciousness and project the Warri Kingdom on the global stage, the Bureau noted, have strengthened the pride of a people whose history remains inseparably woven into the historical tapestry of Delta State and Nigeria.

The Bureau further celebrated Ogiame Atuwatse III as a royal bridge-builder and symbol of peace, whose leadership has continued to encourage harmonious coexistence among the diverse peoples of Delta State. It observed that his statesmanship, diplomacy and commitment to dialogue have reinforced the traditional institution as a vital partner in the pursuit of peace, stability and sustainable development. The presence of His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, at the fifth coronation anniversary celebration, the Bureau said, reflects the enduring respect and cordial relationship between the State Government and the revered Warri throne.

The Management and Staff described the Olu’s five-year journey on the throne as a royal renaissance, in which tradition has been married to innovation, heritage transformed into a vehicle for development, and the ancient authority of the throne harnessed in the service of contemporary aspirations. It said Ogiame Atuwatse III has given renewed meaning and relevance to the institution of traditional leadership while projecting the Itsekiri Nation as a people proud of their history, confident in their identity and hopeful about their collective future.

The Bureau therefore joined the Itsekiri Nation, the Warri Kingdom, the Government and people of Delta State, and well-wishers across Nigeria and the world in celebrating His Imperial Majesty, describing his reign as a golden chapter in the continuing history of the Iwere people. It prayed that Almighty God would continue to grant the Olu wisdom, sound health, strength and divine protection to lead his people with distinction, while blessing his reign with enduring peace, unity, prosperity and even greater accomplishments.
